Sea Kids StorySea Kids learn about wisdom

Marcus plays a nasty trick on Mandy and she could have been badly hurt. Mandy learns from her father the importance of having wisdom and good judgment. The Sea Kids learn the importance of not acting like you know something when, in fact, you don’t. Wisdom keeps one safe from harm for “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom…”(Proverbs 3:13 ESV). Mandy doesn’t fall for Marcus’ next trick, but Marcus ends up learning a lesson from his own folly. They learn the truth is worth more than treasure.

Has anyone played a mean trick on you? It doesn’t feel nice and sometimes someone can get hurt. There are other ways to laugh; tell a joke, watch a funny show, but never play a trick on someone to get a laugh if it hurts their feelings. Be smart, too. Reading books can teach you a lot about the world and learning may help you not fall for a dumb trick. Always treat others how you would want them to treat you.

Share Together

Answer these questions together. Have an open and honest discussion and learn how each family member can be respectful to each other and other people, as God’s word directs.

  • What is the Golden Rule?
  • How can you treat others the way you want to be treated?
  • Why are we to treat others with kindness?
  • When someone is hurt, how can you help them?

Finally, Pray Together!

Set a time each day to pray, asking the Holy Spirit to fill you with the Fruit of the Spirit.

  • As you pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you, look for opportunities to exhibit, in your actions, one Fruit, in particular, that day and another fruit the next day, until you have exhibited each Fruit of God’s Holy Spirit.
